Medicalnews – Organisasi Kesehatan Dunia (WHO) melaporkan lonjakan kasus tuberkulosis (TBC) pada anak di bawah usia 15 tahun. Data tahun 2023 mencatat peningkatan 10 persen dibanding tahun sebelumnya di wilayah Eropa.

Anak di Bawah 15 Tahun Sumbang 4,3 Persen Kasus Baru

Anak-anak kini menyumbang 4,3 persen dari total kasus baru TBC di kawasan tersebut. WHO menyebut peningkatan ini telah terjadi selama tiga tahun berturut-turut.

WHO menilai penularan TBC masih berlangsung aktif di Eropa. Mereka mendesak tindakan cepat untuk mencegah penyebaran yang lebih luas.

“Temuan ini menunjukkan penularan masih terjadi. Kita butuh langkah nyata untuk mengendalikannya,” kata WHO dalam rilis resminya.

Pengobatan Tidak Tuntas Picu TBC Kebal Obat

Selama 2022 hingga 2023, kasus TBC anak meningkat lebih dari 650 kasus. WHO menyatakan, satu dari lima anak pengidap TBC belum jelas apakah sudah menyelesaikan pengobatan.

Kondisi ini bisa memperburuk penyebaran TBC, termasuk jenis yang resisten terhadap obat. WHO juga memperingatkan risiko meningkat jika pengobatan tidak tuntas.

Dr Pamela Rendi-Wagner dari ECDC menyebut saat ini waktu yang tepat untuk bertindak. Ia mengatakan Eropa harus mempercepat pencegahan dan pengobatan.

“Kita hanya punya lima tahun untuk memenuhi target eliminasi TBC 2030,” ujarnya.

Selain peningkatan kasus, WHO juga menyoroti ancaman pemotongan dana bantuan TBC dari Amerika Serikat. Selama ini, USAID berperan besar memasok obat dan perawatan TBC, terutama di negara berpenghasilan menengah ke bawah.

Pada 2024, AS menyumbang sekitar USD 406 juta untuk pengendalian TBC global. Angka ini mencakup hampir seperempat dari seluruh pendanaan donor dunia.

Asia Jadi Wilayah Paling Terdampak Krisis TBC

Asia menjadi wilayah yang sangat terdampak. Lima negara dengan kasus TBC tertinggi berada di Asia, yakni India, Indonesia, China, Filipina, dan Pakistan.

Gabungan dana dari USAID dan Global Fund bahkan melampaui anggaran TBC nasional di beberapa negara. WHO menyebut penghentian bantuan ini bisa menimbulkan krisis pengobatan dan pasokan obat.
