Spesialis bedah toraks kardiovaskuler dari Mayapada Hospital, dr Ismail Dilawar, menjelaskan bahwa operasi jantung kini bisa dilakukan dengan teknik minimal invasif. Teknik ini menyederhanakan proses bedah dan meminimalkan risiko bagi pasien. Dokter menggunakan alat bantu endoskopi untuk mengakses jantung melalui celah antar iga. Luka operasi hanya berukuran 3 sampai 5 cm.

Dr Ismail menjelaskan bahwa tim medis tetap melakukan operasi bypass dengan cara yang lebih simpel dan hanya mengerjakan hal yang perlu. Teknik ini juga membantu mengurangi bekas luka dan rasa tidak nyaman pascaoperasi. Ia menyebut bedah konvensional yang memotong tulang dada sering menimbulkan ketakutan dan berisiko mengganggu pertumbuhan anak.

Pemotongan tulang dada bisa memicu gangguan pertumbuhan karena struktur tubuh anak masih berkembang. Para dokter menilai teknik minimal invasif lebih aman untuk anak-anak. “Kalau kita potong tulang dada, kita mengganggu masa tumbuh mereka,” tambahnya.

Dokter biasanya melakukan operasi jantung pada anak untuk mengatasi kelainan bawaan atau penyakit jantung kongenital. Kelainan ini termasuk kebocoran dinding jantung, masalah katup, dan pembuluh darah yang tidak normal. Anak dengan kelainan jantung bisa mengalami kondisi “bayi biru” akibat percampuran darah bersih dan kotor dalam tubuh.

Dokter menegaskan bahwa anak-anak memiliki peluang hidup panjang. Dokter dan tim medis harus memberikan perawatan jantung secara optimal. “Tujuan kami adalah membuat jantung anak bisa tumbuh sehat hingga dewasa,” kata dr Ismail.
