Medicalnews – Kepala BPOM RI, Prof Dr Taruna Ikrar, bertemu dengan CEO HSA Singapura, Adjunct Prof Dr Raymond Chua, di Tokyo, Rabu (23/4/2024). Pertemuan ini menjadi bagian dari kunjungan kerja BPOM ke Jepang. Keduanya membahas penguatan kerja sama internasional di bidang pengawasan obat dan makanan.

Percepat Pengakuan WLA
Prof Ikrar menegaskan komitmen BPOM untuk meraih status WHO Listed Authority (WLA). Status ini merupakan pengakuan dari WHO terhadap lembaga pengawas yang memiliki sistem regulasi andal dan sesuai standar global. BPOM berupaya meningkatkan kepercayaan internasional serta mempercepat akses produk kesehatan ke pasar dunia.
Dalam diskusi tersebut, BPOM dan HSA sepakat menjajaki kerja sama melalui mekanisme joint assessment. Kolaborasi ini bertujuan mempercepat akses obat inovatif dan berbagi pengalaman menuju pengakuan WLA. Prof Ikrar juga menyampaikan bahwa BPOM aktif mengembangkan regulasi di bidang AI, precision medicine, genomic medicine, digitalisasi, hingga keamanan siber.
HSA Singapura turut membagikan pengalaman mereka dalam proses memperoleh status WLA. Kedua pihak sepakat menyusun Nota Kesepahaman (MoU) sebagai dasar kerja sama bilateral ke depan.
Prof Ikrar menjelaskan bahwa sejak 2005, BPOM telah mendapat pengakuan WHO dengan Maturity Level 3 secara keseluruhan. Pada 2018, empat fungsi BPOM berhasil meraih Maturity Level 4 untuk registrasi, vigilans, laboratorium, dan lot release.
BPOM menargetkan seluruh sembilan fungsi akan mencapai Maturity Level 4 pada 2024. Capaian ini akan membuka jalan bagi BPOM untuk masuk dalam daftar WHO Listed Authority.
