Virus Nipah menular ke manusia melalui hewan perantara seperti babi.
Penularan juga terjadi lewat kontak cairan tubuh hewan atau manusia terinfeksi.

Sejak ditemukan, dunia mencatat lebih dari 800 kasus virus Nipah.
